BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) is a comprehensive 5.5-year undergraduate degree that includes 4.5 years of academic study followed by a mandatory 1-year internship. This program integrates traditional Ayurvedic knowledge with modern medical sciences.
The curriculum covers Ayurvedic fundamentals (Siddhanta), herbal medicine (Dravyaguna), diagnosis methods (Nidana), anatomy (Rachana Sharir), physiology (Kriya Sharir), and various therapeutic approaches. BAMS graduates are qualified to practice Ayurvedic medicine after completing their internship and registering with the respective State Council of Indian Medicine.
